Brendan Wolfe is a writer and editor living in Charlottesville, Virginia, with his daughter, Beatrix.

He is the editor of Encyclopedia Virginia, a project of Virginia Humanities. A native of Davenport, Iowa, he holds an MFA in nonfiction writing from the University of Iowa and has worked at daily and weekly newspapers in Iowa, Maine, and New Hampshire. He is the author of Finding Bix: The Life and Afterlife of a Jazz Legend (2017) and Mr. Jefferson's Telescope: A History of the University of Virginia in 100 Objects (2017), and has published essays in The Morning NewsColorado Review, and VQR.
